John Knight 

A Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers, I joined Middlesbrough based shipping agents having trained with Scottish shipowners, primarily engaged in the Far East liner trades. I am a co-founder of Cockfield Knight & Co Ltd,, established in 1981, and am proud that we still have close connections with many of our principals who supported us in those far off days, as well as others we have come to know well in the intervening years. Without obvious succession, it seemed logical to become part of A V Dawson Ltd, with whom we have enjoyed a close relationship for many years. This came to fruition in 2010, and I am pleased to say we continue with a high degree of independence but with a strengthened team to meet the future and its needs.

Mark Firth 

Commenced in the shipping industry straight from leaving school in 1986 at the Port of Whitby, undertaking ships agency and liner bookings, and then ultimately becoming Manager.

I then moved to the Port of Hull for a brief period in 2000 before joining A.V.Dawson Ltd. as Strip Products Manager looking after steel products.

I joined Cockfield Knight after A.V.Dawson became their new owners in 2010.

In spare time I can be found at concerts & festivals and occasionally paintballing, whilst enjoying the odd pint of cider !

Richard Booth

 I am a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers with more than 35years experience in the shipping industry.

My background includes:

- Chief Mate on Tankers and
Car Carriers,

- Working in operations management for Simon Storage’s chemical storage and transhipment terminal on  the Tees.

- Agency Manager for Casper Shipping  on the Tees

- Running a Maritime Training Centre for Maersk

I am available at any time to give you advice and assistance in any aspect of shipping, freight forwarding ,cargo handling, port cost estimates etc.

Dave Sanders

 I joined Cockfield Knight in 1987 on Jim Cockfield’s retirement after previously experiencing life on the ‘other side of the fence’ with the Tees & Hartlepool Port Authority (now PD Teesport) and other Shipping Agencies.   

Until recently, with the acquisition of the company by A.V.Dawson Ltd,  I was the ‘newest’ recruit and in that period I would like to think that we have built a good, reliable  and successful relationship with all of our clients who rely on the service we provide.

Paul Harbottle

 The company was formed in 1981 and I joined in 1983 commencing in Ships Agency operations.

I am a member of the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers. 

Overall I have witnessed the company develop its client base by personal endeavour and commitment to achieve its standing in the  Shipping industry.          

An additional aspect of the company is that we also  have personnel whom can  perform customs operations and general forwarding on a worldwide basis.
